Creating Privacy Around Your Hot Tub

When you are relaxing in your hot tub, the last thing you want is to be interrupted. Your hot tub is your place of relaxation… your place of solace. It is not the place where you want to be interrupted by a nosy neighbor or a barking dog. So how do you go about creating privacy around your hot tub? Here are some tips.

Add Some Landscaping

One of the easiest methods when it comes to creating privacy around your hot tub is adding landscaping. Landscaping is natural, beautiful, and blocks out those pesky neighbors. If you really want to create privacy, you can add a hedge in your backyard. Hedges are great because they provide kind of a double purpose of both a privacy barrier and a fence.

But hedges aren’t everybody’s thing, and that’s understandable. Don’t worry. There are other ways you can use landscaping to create some privacy. Get some tall grasses, or maybe even a divider covered in ivy and flowers. Or, if you don’t want to add landscaping to your yard, put your hot tub by some trees. As always, though, make sure to cover your hot tub when you’re not using it to keep debris from the trees out.

Add an Outdoor Living Space

Looking to add some barriers between you and your neighbors without adding more green to your yard? Add an outdoor living space. Even if it doesn’t actually conceal your hot tub (although it could if you add an umbrella), it will add an additional barrier. The furniture adds a sense of privacy, because there is something extra in your yard, not just open grass.

An outdoor living space can be more than just furniture, too! It can be a place to gather with friends and family or to just relax when you get out of the hot tub and need to dry off. So, like the hedge, it serves a type of double purpose.

Add Some Drapes

If you’ve seen pictures of hot tubs on social media, you’ve probably seen ones with drapes all around them. Sometimes they have strings of lights running over the hot tub, too. You’ve probably seen these images and thought, “I could never have something like that.” But you can! All you have to do is get some basic drapes from the store — nothing too fancy. Add some poles around your hot tub, hook up the drapes, and voila! You have an instant privacy canopy.

Plus, you can get a few different looks with the drapes. If you want to have people over and just make your hot tub look fancy, tie the drapes to the poles so they’re pulled to the side. Or, if you want total privacy, let the drapes hang loose so you can’t see out, and no one else can see in. It’s that easy.
