9 Indoor Games to Survive the Wisconsin Winter 2023

Are you on a quest for games to survive the Wisconsin winter? You can only have so many snowball fights, build so many snow men, and sled down so many hills before you get frostbite. After you’ve cleared the sidewalk and the driveway, move inside the house for some real warmth. We’ve put together a list of 9 indoor games to help you survive the Wisconsin winter in 2023. Fun games like air hockey, bubble-hockey, darts, and foosball make your winter wonderful. How about a little pinball, ping pong, shuffleboard, and Skee-Ball? At the Pool People, we can help you do more than survive the winter. We can help you build memories with the ones you love the most!

  1. Air Hockey

If you’re looking for an action-packed game, air hockey may be your answer. Like the real game, air hockey tables have red and blue lines and slick surfaces. In air hockey, the top is set with tiny holes that let through gentle air currents which lift the puck and allow it to glide freely around the surface, as if it were ice. It takes more than using the mallet to force the puck into your opponent’s goal. Bank shots, trick shots, and distraction are important skills for any player. Don’t wait until it snows to start practicing!

  1. Bubble Hockey

Bubble hockey, aka dome hockey, is another action-packed family game. Like air hockey, games start with a face off, a puck drop, and a race to make the next goal. As in real hockey and air hockey, a player scores each time they shoot a puck through the goalie on the other end and into the chute. One rule to point out before the game begins: if the ball gets stuck under a player and the game has to be stopped, it’s an automatic point for the other team.

  1. Foosball

Another sports-related game is foosball, also known as table soccer. With eight foosball rods with foosball men attached, opponents “kick” the ball into each other’s goal. The game can be played with two players, and that works just fine. But it’s just as much fun — if not more fun — to be played with two teams with two players on each side. The first team to reach 10 goals wins. And with tables from quality manufacturers like Brunswick, Olhausen, and Tornado, everyone wins.

  1. Skee-Ball

Skee-Ball has been around for more than 40 years. It’s such a fun game, and it can be played solo or with several other people. It can also be played in teams. Like the other games, practice makes perfect. But one could argue, this game takes an extra measure of patience and precision.

  1. Ping Pong

Everyone who’s ever taken a high school physical education class already knows how to play ping pong and it couldn’t be more fun. We have the tables, nets, and balls you need, as well as a quality line of traditional and conversion-top options.

  1. Shuffleboard

There are a number of different games to play, including Crazy Eight, Horse Collar, Tap and Draw, or Target Table. No matter what you play, you will love shuffleboard. We have an incredible selection of shuffleboard tables from leading manufacturers Brunswick and Olhausen.

  1. Pinball

The only truly electronic game on our list, this one has all the bells and whistles. Literally! Everyone loves a good pinball machine. One pull of the plunger, one release of the ball, one flip of the paddles, and you’re back in your childhood arcade! You can even teach the kids a few things about pinball.

  1. Darts

There are literally hundreds of ways to play darts. Before you start a game, you want to make sure everyone is on board with the rules. That will help limit possible frustration and disagreement. Many of the games are pre-programmed into our electronic dartboards, and include a scoring display, virtually eliminating disputes!
